DRA Contributes $25K to Dubuque Jaycees to Support Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Display and Air Show

Dubuque, IA – June 29, 2022 – During the DRA's board meeting on June 28, the Dubuque Jaycees were presented $25,000 to help support the community's upcoming Fireworks and Air Show Spectacular, which is celebrating its 36th year of entertaining area citizens.

The Dubuque Jaycees, in partnership with Radio Dubuque, host the local fireworks and air show. This year's festivities begin on July 1 with the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team performing in Elizabeth, Illinois, followed by performances in Hazel Green, Wisconsin (July 2) and Dubuque, Iowa (July 3). The Golden Knights' last performance will be on July 4 in Cassville, Wisconsin.

The full celebration and air show performance will take on Sunday night, July 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in AY McDonald Park next to the Hawthorn Boat Ramp just below Lock and Dam 11. The ever-popular fireworks display will occur at dusk that evening. Information on this year's celebration, including a full schedule of events and list of air show performers, can be found at:

“We are pleased to be able to support the local Fourth of July activities and look forward to honoring local heroes who have served in the armed forces, or who are members of the firefighting, EMS and law enforcement communities," said Alex Dixon, President & CEO of the DRA and Q Casino. "The DRA has a long history of supporting community events, so providing funding that helps individuals and families from the tri-state area enjoy this national holiday is important."

The DRA, as of June 27, is also now accepting applications from eligible organizations for their new Mission Grant program. Requests for these grants can range from $50,000 to $500,000 and should focus on programs and initiatives designed to enhance population growth, retention and/or tourism in the Dubuque area. While multi-year requests for funding will be considered, programs or initiatives should be able to demonstrate their overall impact to the community and show there is sustainability beyond any initial funding.
